Salvation
Army needs kettle ringers
The Salvation Army is searching for volunteer kettle ringers
for the upcoming holiday season.
Capt. Jonathan Harvey said that kettle ringers used to
be all volunteers. Due to declining interest, the Salvation
Army has had to pay them in recent years, but would rather
all of the holiday donations go toward helping others.
"We could use a lot more volunteers," Harvey
said.
Harvey suggested a family, a neighborhood or a business
can take turns volunteering for a shift between eight and
12 hours for one day.
There will be 15 kettle locations in Yuma every day through
Dec. 23, except Sundays. He said he could use at least 10
more groups a day to help the Salvation Army get through
the season.
Harvey said local organizations that will be volunteering
their time this season have extended a "challenge"
to other local groups to provide volunteers.
